It is a legend rarely spoken and until now never written; a tale so taboo and blasphemous that even the exact place it occured is forbidden to be recorded.

There was once a prosperous kingdom, an oasis of a land, here was a mighty king, his son the prince, and the chief of the guard; for they would make up the bulk of those involved directly in this affair. There was of course the woman. She was beautiful with long flowing hair, brilliant eyes, full lips, and a body that would turn a holy man to thoughts of sin. Thus she was kept hidden although her beauty was cultivated for she was to be betrothed to the prince, a jewel for this kingdom. Although hidden away it came to the king's attention that the woman became knowledgable of things she should not, and believed she was being taught by her retainers. They begged for mercy and to find the cause of the woman's knowledge. They discovered that she was being visited each night by a demon lover; a female demon of the wilderness, a terrible creature feared through out the kingdoms as that foul thing their ancestors onced worshipped as a false god. The demon they reported had defiled the woman, not only in mind but in body. The king in his disgust had the woman taken away and imprisoned. The prince begged his father to let her go, that she could be purified. A holy man instructed them that this could be done, in a simple manner; for the woman had been claimed by a demon, regardless of its form the holy man said it was a thing without gender, a corruption of nature, an abomination; it had claimed the woman as its bride in place of the prince. All they had to do then was to approach the demon with conviction in the name of God and it would have no choice by to release its hold on the woman.

The chief of the guard was chosen, a dummy was made to appear to sleep in the woman's sleep chamber that night, when the demon returned the chief of the guard was to approach it and demand it release its hold on her. So it was that the demon did return, flying in through the window, the chief of the guard hearing the creature growling in the chamber finding a dummy in place of the woman entered, sword drawn and spoke to the demon these words, (foul creature who is an afront to God, you have raped the betrothed of the prince, in God's name and by the will of the king you are to release your hold on the woman).

He had spoken while only seeing an outline of the beast, in this moment a ghostly unnatural light filled the chamber; the thing before him the chief of the guard described as resembling a tall woman pale with death, eyes like the jewels from the devil's crown, hair dyed in blood, its legs those of a burnt owl, its armed blackened crocodile legs, a long lizard's tail with a spear tip, wings of a bat upon its back, and four black goat like horns crowning its face and brow.

The succubus who lays with women, in truth both incubus and succubus, a devil is both and neither; the creature spoke to him in a voice like a woman's and a man's and some other beast he could only imagine would be a dragon as his ears felt hot to hear it, (I am a creature of temptation, desire, lust, and passion; what temptation or desire is there if I forced someone to love me; what lust and passion can there be without consent).

The chief of the guard's throat and chest burned, his skin like standing near an oven, his legs stuck in place as though thick with pitch. The creature told him that the woman was to be taken to a cave in an outcropping to the south of the king's palace, within three days time. For the next three nights the demon would be there waiting. If the woman was harmed or not brought to her the kingdom would suffer.

This the chief of the guard told the king, the prince, and the holy man. The holy man told them this was no ordinary demon, trully it must be a queen or a king of demons, seeking to bring down their kingdom, and show to God that they are unworthy of his love. The holy man told them to hold true, that these demons are fickle things, attracted to things they see and smell like wild animals. The woman's long hair no doubt was the source of the beast's attraction; thus they cut off the woman's hair, and that first night the chief of the guard took the hair to the cave and threw it before the demon (there, there is what you love).

As before he was burned without being burned as the monster spoke, (Hair grows back, my love heals all wounds; for the insult and injury you have brought I shall take from you and the king).

Upon returning to the palace the chief of the guard learned that fifty head of cattle from his home, and a hundred head of cattle from the king had been slaughtered, their bones picked clean of all their meat by a sudden whirlwind. The chief of the guard told them what transpired.

The holy man told them to hold true, but to move the woman to holy ground and hide her beneath sacred cloths, tell the demon she no longer loves it and has become a woman of God to defy it. Thus on the second night the chief of the guard went to the cave before the demon and told it what he had been told to tell it, that the woman was no longer in the palace and had gone to live at the temple, protected by God, a bride of God, and no longer wished to love the demon. The demon laughed at the chief of the guard proclaiming him a liar. He told the demon to look for its self and see he is telling the truth. The demon spoke (if I were to sit a cat upon the king's throne would it then be the king? Is a child his father by wearing his shoes? Your lies are clear to me. For your attempt at trickery I shall take again from you and the king.)

When the chief of the guard returned he found the well of his house, and the well of the palace had become sea water. What sort of demon he wandered had power over wind and water like this. The king and prince however could stand no more; they had done all that the holy man could do for them, and ordered no less than a hundred soldiers to go to that cave the next night; armed with holy garments and weapons blessed by the temple to slay the demon. Along with thirty holy men to chant an exorcism against evil spirits so even without its body it could not return as an evil spirit to torment them. The sacred papers the holy men brought were blown away by an evil wind, the holy men blinded by a strange light that shined in threads from the demon's finger tips, the soldiers consumed by flames till only the chief of the guard remained. The demon told him (I am not without mercy, for all that is beneath the sky is my prisoner, you will live to tell this tale)

The demon then flew away, when the chief of the guard returned he found the palace empty save for the disembowled remains of the king and the prince. The temple was in histerics for the woman was missing and the head holy man was found torn to pieces. The demon said the virgin brides of God had torn through the temple, giving no pause to any sacred image or word as it killed the head holy man and took its bride; her long hair restored instantly by the demon's kiss as they both vanished in a brilliant light.

This kingdom is unknown by name, it is said without a king it fell easily to an invading army; this tale barely known as it proclaimed a demon of a forbidden lust had defied God and acted as though it were a god.
