Type: Blue Ghoul

Category: Ghoul

Description: People of either a thin or semi-athletic build; they have strikingly blue skin and icy blue somewhat faded looking eyes. They have human intelligence, full intelligence able to use tools, communicate, ect… Originally thought to be a “Neo-Myth” told by survivors passing through some back country areas and abandoned towns; most commonly found around isolated mountain towns and structures. They are almost always in bands, one case being a whole town of them in rural Canada.

Blue Ghouls however are extremely dangerous as they have a craving for human flesh, and given they will cook and consume the whole body (they do this ritualistically) nothing is left to become a new zombie. Blue Ghouls despite being intelligent are sociopaths; they will abandon and turn on each other if the situation calls for it *easiest solution first regardless of relations*. They are also prone to torture and mutilations.

Blue Ghouls are the result of people cooking and eating zombie flesh. Evidence suggests this occurred out of desperation; facing starvation or cannibalizing each other. This mainly occurred due to survivors wrongly assuming that they could hold up in a prison, hospital, or other fortified location and be able to have enough to eat and drink with a small cultivated field *not realizing yield size and length of time to actually grow anything, not to mention care for the crops is not the same when the “victory garden” is the only source of food and there are no other supplies to supplement it with or game to hunt. Thus the survivors took a gamble and started to (drop) zombies and bring them over the fortifications where they would cook them *which would kill the infection in principle, however unless its burned to a crisp a fair amount of the infectious organism will remain, only altered by the heat from cooking*. This denaturing of the organism mixed with digestive enzymes and acids mutated it into a “lesser” or less-exaggerated version of the typical zombification process; however it added blue tinting for some reason and still altered the brain’s chemistry into a cold logic and cannibalistic hunger state with psychotically violent tendencies.

Scientists currently believe it may be possible to cure someone of this state, although what state their consciousness will be in after words is anyone’s guess. One experimental subject committed suicide in his cell during the “recovery” phase; writing in his own blood on the wall (Those eyes are watching me and they won’t stop); possibly referring to the victims (survivors) his bandit like band had killed along a back country road before a cleansing crew swept the area.
