Literature Text

Type: Animalistic

Description: Usually “lesser” Eldritch Abominations, hybrids born between monsters and higher Eldritch Abomination, created by them, or are simply the chosen form of something that would otherwise have no form based on its own preferences and aesthetic tastes. In a nut-shell these either resemble an animal or a combination of animal traits, these can be grouped based on the animal type (Aquatic, Amphibious, Mammalian, Reptilian, Saurian, Avian, Chimera, ect…) the “Aquatic” group stands out as unlike any other they are almost always a Chimera combination of various aquatic creatures; however unlike the “Chimera” group these aren’t always (functional) and recognizable as a believable life form; some Aquatic types are more a mass of cephalopod tentacles, or legs and claws and such and may look closer to a “Defiled” flesh type only made of aquatic creatures; although some real aquatic animals are kind of like that.

There is some debate if those that often appear as a mixture of Humanoid and animal traits should be listed with these or a separate group; aside from having human parts (usually a torso and arms being the most common, and sometimes a human head) they are also a mixture of animal parts. It can be argued that since humans are also animals that there is no difference.

These tend to be the most understood by humans; on a rudimentary level, often not even called Eldritch “Abominations” instead separated as “Animal Abominations” or some other kind of monster. As a note for some reason most “Human Abominations” tend to be a member of another type disguised as a human; while those of this group rarely transform or disguise themselves as humans (there are examples of them doing this, but they tend to be rather quick at dropping the pretext); and those closer to human (usually younger ones) tend to be mistaken for other kinds of monsters. In fact these tend to be given titles like “Old Ones”, “Great Ones”, or grouped with other “Gods” as divine humanoids with animal traits.

Interestingly the “hybrid” theory holds up fairly well as many of the stronger ones of this type have proven lineages to other types that are stronger than them, even those that only passively resemble them.
